- Florida Republicans redrew Castor's district in May 2026 so it sits fully inside Hillsborough County and voted for Trump by about 10 points. Cook moved it all the way from Lean Republican to Toss-up after the primary and new polling.
- Beltran says Tampa is a center-right city and the seat should be Republican. Democrats say the new map does not guarantee a GOP win and point to a July poll with Castor up 8.
