Tom Kean Jr. has been in Congress since 2023 and wants a third term. Before that he spent about 20 years in the New Jersey Legislature, including 14 years as the Senate Republican leader. His father was governor of New Jersey in the 1980s.

Rebecca BennettD

Rebecca Bennett flew Navy helicopters for more than 15 years and worked as a test pilot. She later got an MBA from Wharton and worked in health care at Johnson & Johnson and a digital health company. She was a Republican until 2016 and has never held office.

  • Kean was gone from Congress for about four months in 2026 and missed more than 100 votes without saying why. In June he said he had been in the hospital for a health matter. Democrats made the absence a campaign issue.
  • Kean and Bennett agreed to only one debate, held September 27 in Rahway.
