Mike Lawler has been in Congress since 2023 and is asking for a third term. Before that he spent two years in the New York State Assembly and ran the state Republican Party's day-to-day work. He grew up in Rockland County and says he is a moderate who works with both parties.

Cait ConleyD

Cait Conley is a West Point graduate and Army veteran with six tours overseas and three Bronze Stars. She later worked on the White House National Security Council under President Biden on counterterrorism. She has never held elected office.

  • Lawler calls Conley a carpetbagger because she owns homes in North Carolina and Virginia, not New York. She says she was born in the Hudson Valley and moved back from Virginia last year.
  • Three sources told City & State that Lawler staffers berated Orthodox Jewish constituents who were turned away from a Trump-Lawler rally in May. Lawler said he knew nothing about it.
  • Lawler defended Ohio Rep. Max Miller, who faces domestic abuse claims, and refused to give back a $10,000 donation from Miller's PAC.
