Scott Perry has been in Congress since 2013 and is a former chairman of the House Freedom Caucus. He served in the Army National Guard and went to Penn State. He beat Stelson by about 5,000 votes in 2024.

Janelle Stelson was a TV news anchor at WGAL in Lancaster for many years. She was a Republican until 2023 and is running against Perry for the second time. She won the May 2026 Democratic primary.

  • Perry's campaign ran an ad in October making a personal accusation against Stelson based on a statement from a neighbor who is a Perry supporter. Police confirmed a call to Stelson's home but no evidence was shown, and another neighbor called the story unbelievable. Stelson called it lies and said she may sue. Some Republicans also criticized the ad.
